It's expected that you may have some questions regarding of how sleep tracking is working and what all the numbers mean. Let's try answering them.
I have slept not that amount of time, that I see in the app
Sleep tracking with Mi Band like any other similar fitness band is done with an accelerometer. It measures how much you move all the time and what kind of movements you do. When a man starts to sleep, he actually moves less or even doesn't move at all. This is the main sign of your sleep start. During your sleep, there are small movements, but when you wake up you start to move a lot. But still here can be some differences between your real sleep time and calculated one.
I remember/don't remember that I woke up in the middle of the night X times, but the app is showing less/more.
Unfortunately, it's still not that precise, as we would like it to be. Band tracks as waking up any high activity before you actually wake up, it can also include moments when you snooze after the alarm. But awakenings tracking even takes into account possibility for you to walk in the night for a short period (going to the bathroom, for example).
I haven't found the answer to my question. What should I do?

ReplyDeleteSame with me, its not taking sleep time during day, dammit this band is not designed for night riders.

ReplyDeleteI find these orange lines in my sleep data. What are they? Any idea?
ReplyDeleteOrange lines denote when you're awake.
DeleteNot tracking sleep at all for me, either. I've seen many comments online indicating that this is a problem for lots of people. It needs to be addressed.

DeleteI work at night? Anyway to make it track my sleep during the day?
ReplyDeleteIt tracks NY sleep time very well but overestimates my steps and distance covered.
ReplyDeleteI am working at night too. I got a same problem it cannot track my sleep data.

I am not able to buy oro version
ReplyDeleteDoes your app use HR tracking to get more accurate sleep data? If not do you plan to enable it?
ReplyDeleteYes, enable it.
DeleteI also napped quite some time last sunday and it didn't track any of that
ReplyDeleteI just have bought mi band and have downloaded this app for windows phone. When i click on the sleep track symbol, the app gives msg "update to PRO to enable sleep tracking. To update I have to purchase some subscription.
ReplyDeletewill anyone please elaborate this?
Mine doesn't register I have slept at all.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to put it on such that the back of the device touches your skin and the band does not move about, otherwise, it is not able to track anything.
DeleteHow does the band differentiate between deep and light sleep?
ReplyDeleteit can't track sleep in the morning. I don't know why. I meddle with all settings already. you can key in manually what time you slept but that's irrelevant since its not being tracked.

ReplyDeleteI had Mi Band for a 2 years, and now MiBand 2s for about 3 months...and i must say i am disapointed with many things here, but vorst thing is it's sleep tracker.
ReplyDeleteFirst version was a lott accurate.
this one is showing a lot of "Easy sleaping", for all...when i take my phone during a night and read something, stend up and go to toalet, it doesn't get that i am awake even though i chekt time and measure hart beats on it!?
MiBand did not have hartread monitor, but it was lot more precise with sleap tracking...also buy using both devices, step tracking is showing diferent results...off course, i did not count it manualy, so i can't sey which is "better", but i give my vote to old one.
Mi band 2 have hartrate monitor, but it doesn't work on black skined people, it often have problems with oters too...
i must say i am dissapionted a lot with it.
Why doesn't it monitor afternoon naps?
ReplyDeleteWow. How limited that it only tracks night sleep. I have a sleep illness and I often don't sleep at night because I've passed out and sleepy during the day. I need to track my sleep but if you aren't what xiaomi considers normal.. you wasted your money. Thanks xiaomi, for being short sighted and ripping me off work an item that doesn't work. Not cool xiaomi. I will post a review letting people know not to buy because you discriminate against anyone who works nights, has a sleep disability, or is just a night owl. NOT RECOMMENDED!
ReplyDeleteI have mi band 2 - and one problem with sleep tracker. When I go to sleep at 22:00, it tracks my sleep time from about an hour after midnight. It repeats every night even though I fall asleep about 22:00. Any suggestions?

ReplyDeleteIt's possible to see HR taken during sleep monitoring? Or it's just a "secret data" to analyze sleeping period? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHello! Does PRO version enables smart wake up based on sleep analysis?
ReplyDeleteMi sucks interms of sleep data , i tried almost all product for Mi . sleep data is not accurate and many time doesn't work. for night shift guys its of no use.
ReplyDeleteShould I set anything to track my sleep or it will track automatically??
ReplyDeleteMaybe NO one know how to track nap time with band 2 BUT tracking is vital... I'm sure MI band developers will get it right BUT WHEN
ReplyDeletePLEASE
DO IT FASTER
Does my phone need to be on during the night for the band to track sleep?
ReplyDeleteAs I've figured out, band calculates how much you sleep. That is way different from sensing when you sleep. So the band uses sensor to know how much you move to get approximate sense if you are asleep and then it calculates how time has passed from it to get into REM phase based on approximate data how much time a normal human needs to enter into REM phase of the sleep
ReplyDeleteThat is way different from real measurement of how much you are really in the REM phase because some people can have weak sleep but don't move much...
