Update 1.22: What's next?

Hi there!

This post is a continuation of our release announcement of update 1.21. Read it first to learn about our latest features.

We were not in contact for really long time since release 1.20, so today I want to share with you on my thoughts about the future features for "Bind Mi Band".
Firstly, this wasn't right that it took so much time to make an update from the previous release. That's why I believe that next updates should be more granular and more often. Another thing is that it's better to work on one thing at a time. But there are so many of them! And you will help me to choose what to do!

Further, you will find a poll where you can leave your vote and share your opinion on what should be done next.

Notify Mi Band 1.3.0 with application icons support

Hi there!

It's been a long time, I guess, but we didn't forget about you, our dear users! Here comes a new update for Notify Mi Band with next features.

Displaying of application icons for Mi Band 2

You need to enable this feature in the settings of the app.

Supported applications list is limited because the icons are a part of the band's firmware. But you can find next apps among supported:
  • Facebook and Facebook BETA,
  • TwitterTweetium and Peregrine,
  • WhatsApp,
  • Instagram BETA and 6tag,
  • Mail and Calendar,
  • Messenger and Messenger BETA,
  • Microsoft Phone (still only missed calls),
  • Microsoft Messaging,
  • Line,
  • Telegram,
  • IM+,
  • Skype and Skype for business,
  • VK (atm there is an OS bug which prevents notifications to arrive, but we hope it will be fixed soon),
  • Hangouts (GMessenger Pro/GMessenger Free),
  • WeChat,
  • QQ,
  • Weibo
  • Taobao

Windows Insider Preview 10.0.15007 Information

Hello there!

There is a big hype around latest Insider Preview for Windows Mobile. We get a lot of emails and comments about that and want to clarify couple things.

  1. There are connectivity issues on some devices.
We haven't investigated that, but if the app works for you on a stable build and stops on Preview, this means that the issue is in OS update. This happened before and not once, so we believe that Microsoft will fix the problem soon, but this can take from a week to couple months. They have to do this anyway, for the sake of backward compatibility :)
Reminding again: you are using Insider Preview builds on your own risk. Please, send complaints to Microsoft.
  2. GATT Server API was introduced in this build.
Is it useful for us? Can't say sure, but, probably, no. We already can send notifications to the band with existing APIs.
The idea behind GATT Server API is that band might become able to send notifications back to the phone/PC. AFAIK, Mi Band doesn't do this. Saying other words, Xiaomi should implement support for this on a hardware side first.
If you possess some specific info regarding Mi Band and GATT Server, let us know.

If you read the post twice and something is still not clear, feel free to contact support.

See you soon!
