Bind Mi Band 1.19 with firmware upgrade for Mi Band 2

Ho-ho-ho! Merry Christmas!🎅🎄

We brought some good news today and it's not only about Christ 😉

New update of Bind Mi Band is rolling out in the Store. Key features are:
1. Firmware update for Mi Band 2. Read about all the details further.
2. New settings like date displaying, "do not disturb" mode, flipping of screen on wrist rotate.
3. Bugfixes and improvements.

Please, continue reading to know why it is a very important milestone in the development of the app.

Xiaomi is rapidly improving Mi Band 2 and some of the newest features are available only with the latest firmware. From now we will be able to provide a better experience to all of you. You hopefully won't need to search for Android/iOS phones to upgrade firmware. This makes usage of Mi Band with Windows complete.

What is important to know about firmware update:
  • As it was before, you are doing it at your own risk. We tested it here and there, on different bands and phones, tried to catch with all the possible cases, but there is still a chance that we did something wrong, so, you know...
  • Sometimes Windows reacts quite strangely to firmware update of the band. After upgrade's completion you may need to unpair your band in Bluetooth settings and pair it back. Also, you may need to bind band again in the app. After these "glitches" are over - everything will be fine.
  • Those of you who still have bands with factory firmware (version up to 1.0.0.34) will need to run it twice. First time to 1.0.0.53 and then to the latest version.

Looks like all the important stuff is covered. Now other details.

You will find "Date" display setting in the same menu, where you setup displayed icons. For most of you, date on the band will be displayed in English. Other possible options are Chinese simplified and traditional, they are picked automatically if your regional format settings match.

Now you can configure "Do not disturb" mode. It can be scheduled automatically (when band thinks you are sleeping) or manually. Also, you can allow or forbid display highlighting during it, so no more distractions in the night (woohoo!). We haven't tested it much, but these settings must also influence notifications which come from Notify Mi Band.

It is possible now to enable the display flipping with wrist rotation. So when you are having multiple icons on Mi Band 2 display, you can switch between them without touching the sensor button.

Now you can turn on/off "goal reached" notification on the band (mostly for those who has accidentally disabled it in Mi Fit).

We also added a tip for those who want to restart Mi Band 2: just hold the sensor button for 10 seconds. Not possible programmatically, but it's even an easier way!

What's next? Having firmware upgrade for Mi Band 2 opens a lot of possibilities for new features like displaying icons or name of the app for notifications, BUT we will postpone these features for now. We are a bit in debt before all users with older models of Mi Band because practically last 6 months were spent on Mi Band 2 support. So we plan to work more on general app improvements and features. Probably, in statistics section, but we'll see.

Hoping to see you all with us in 2017!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

UPDATE 1.19.1: Fix of issue that with firmware 1.0.0.39 (and maybe some others) it was not possible to run an upgrade. Localization update.

  11. Yep, you guys rock. If I can reiterate an ask, maybe a companion app for Windows 10 to show the statistics from OneDrive, would be a great addition to the family of apps, both for the classis MiBand and the MiBand 2.

  12. Thank you for the update. The last thing you could implement is the new running function of the official app, which shows continuesly the heart rate. That would be really cool :)

Dear Ian, I bought the Pro version and everything works correctly I have only detected a failure and it is that the distance and the kalorias that marks me in the Mi Band 2 do not match with those of the application, instead the steps itself. It must be this irregular.
    Congratulations on the App.
    Thanks in advance.

  24. Hi!
    Thanks for the update!
I only have problems with the notify app, after replacing my old miband 1s with a miband 2, I can't get any notifications. The error text says: "Can't access notifications. Make sure to give us access." I'm needless to say, the access is granted.
After clearing all notifications in the notification center, the error disappears until I get a new notification, the error reappears and my miband doesn't notify.
I've already reinstalled all miband apps and repaired my device.
Does anyone have the same problem?
    Thanks for helping!

  28. After updating the firmware to version 1.0.0.53 and 1.0.1.21 the sleep data doesn´t work anymore. I tried to reboot and reset the Mi Band 2 but it didn't work. My phone is lumia 920.

  29. Hello Ian, thanks a lot for your amazing work! The app keeps getting better and I can't wait for the future additions to come :)

Just a quick question for everybody though : my Band 2 was already up to date so I didn't try the firmware update procedure. I just wanted to know if there was some sort of notification in the app to tell us that a new firmware is available? Or do we have to go to "device" in order to check? Thanks!
By the way, it seems that people here update their Band 2 with firmware 1.0.1.21, I think mine is on 1.0.1.28 thanks to an Android phone. I don't know how it works to bring the firmware but it seems we have a slight delay.

    Happy New Year everybody!

  32. Today I observed a strange phenomenon. On the display of the band the distance covered during my walk is 8.2 km, while the application shows just 7.69 km, and the GPS track distance is 8.56 km. The fact, that the GPS distance differs from distance, calculated of step count is normal, probable my step length is longer, than calculated from my body height but how to explain the difference of the band displayed and the by the phone displayed values?

  39. Hi, i still doesnt know how the firmware update works as it still shows that 1.0.1.21 is up to date. Everyone with iphone or android had already .28 and now even .34. Do you know why?

  40. Hi, the same problem. Also, heartrate stop working.

  41. It's all weird. My band worked fine several weeks (even with the firmware update to 1.0.1.21).

But after 3 o 4 days that I didn't use the band the HR stopped work. Then I used the band by around 10 hours and the HR suddenly starts work again. It's works well during several days (I used the band almost all days during one week) and now, after several days without use, the HR stops again.

Now, the HR is not working. From now, I will use the band continuously and tomorrow I'll confirm if HR is working or not.

    1. Hi everyone! This morning, when I woke up, the HR didn't work on the bracelet. However, when syncing with the app, sleep monitoring data was available and the HR section said that the last measurement had been a few minutes before I woke up.
I tried to measure in the band, but it showed me error.
I took off the band and and put it back, but this time with the the sensor on the underside of my wrist and the HR began to work again.
I'm still with the band since yesterday, taking measurements from time to time and seems to work correctly.
      This really is very strange.

    2. Similar to the problem as you. Since Monday (16/01/2017). HR not measure my watch. I use it constantly. I took off, cleaned it, put it back on, nothing has changed. So far, all functions worked without any problems, so I do not understand what could be the problem. A green light signals that issued the clock HR measurement, but not getting the results measured.

    3. I had the same problem, HR suddenly stopped working for no reason. When I updated my Band with the latest firmware it started to work again. So maybe with the next firmware it will be fine for you.
