faq

What models of bands do you support?

We support Mi Band 1.0 (color LEDs), Mi Band 1A (white LEDs), Mi Band 1S (with heart rate measurement) and Mi Band 2 (with display). Also, technically the app works with Mi Band 3, but is not supported officially.

Will you add support for Mi Band 3?

Probably, no. But as I wrote above, it is already supported unofficially.

Does this application support any other bands?

No, this application is for Xiaomi Mi Band only. Please, be sure that you have this band, not Microsoft Band or any other.

My Windows Phone cannot pair Mi Band by Bluetooth. What should I do?

Restarting the app and turning off/on Bluetooth may help. Update your band's firmware with official application Mi Fit for Android, iOS or our app. After that unpair it and try to pair with Windows Phone again.

My band doesn't synchronize with the app. Maybe I was not using my band for a month or so. What should I do?

Just restart your band through the bottom menu of "Device" page. Or you can try unbinding band in the same menu and binding it back to the app. That should help.

How to disconnect my Mi Band from Windows Phone?

Just remove the band in Bluetooth settings. If you cannot reconnect the band to another phone, restart both phones.

When will you implement vibration notifications on phone calls/SMS/WhatsApp?

Just download the app "Notify Mi Band". It is available for Windows 10 Mobile. Make sure to have Anniversary update installed (1607). Also, you need to authorize the app in settings of Bind Mi Band, just follow hints in the application. Unfortunately, support for notifications on Windows Mobile is unreliable, so we give no guarantees about the app.

Why does the number of calories and steps are different on the screen of my Mi Band 2 and in the app?

This happens because we have our own algorithms for calories and distance calculation. We made a research and take into account your height, weight, pace, and other factors to determine the most accurate result possible for this kind of bands. We believe that implementation we did is working much better than linear formulas usually used in the apps.

How does the sleep tracking work?

Read everything about sleep tracking here.

When will you translate the application to my language?

Right now application supports up to 10 most popular languages among our users.

Something went wrong with my payment! I can see an error or I got charged some extra money!

All the payments in the app are done through Microsoft Store. We don't have any access to your account, payments or payment details, so all the questions have to be directed to the Microsoft Store support.
Sometimes Microsoft Store can charge you a small payment (around 1USD/EUR) to check your card, but it will be returned usually during a week.

My PRO subscription disappeared!

Just restart your phone, make sure you have an Internet connection through cell network and start the app. This will make sure that the system can reach Microsoft Store payments and will restore your subscription.
If the subscription is still not restored, try to purchase the application again, it should be free. If it is not (the price shown is non-zero), please, contact Microsoft Store support.

How do you handle my personal data?

We don't store any personal data on our side. We may store anonymous statistics regarding app usage.

    1. Maybe because Microsoft only accept apps from device manufacturers to have access to notifications. A workaround could be to sideload the app. But the guy(S) behind bindmiband told me that it is not possible, maybe because of other limitations. A new hope could be that Microsoft announced new features for notifications at build.

  15. Hi
My Microsoft Lumia 640XL (Windows 10 Mobile, build 14322) paired with Mi Band 1s, but I can't connect it with your app. Please, help me

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have the same problem as Rostik_Flyer. It appears that Build 14322 broke something between Bind Mi Band and Windows Phone on Build 14322.

As soon as my Lumia Icon automatically updated to 14322, right away, even though the band itself will pair with the phone, once you open up the app, it will connect and grab any information.

I do have an Android phone, and it did download a new firmwire, and it did not fix the issue. The band will connect to the Android Xiaomi Mi 1S apps without issue.

After updating the firmware on the Android phone, and then unpairing and re-pairing the band to my Icon, it will connect successfully over Bluetooth, but won't work in the app itself. I still have a Lumia 920 running an older version of Windows 10, and it will connect to that phone without issue, so it definitely appears to be some kind of issue with Build 14322.

  19. Several questions, none of them are part of the short Q&A at the top or the detailed sleep track post (as I read both):

Probably we (your users) all know this Mi band device (the 1S a.k.a "Pulse" model actually) is a damn cheap chinese entry-level gadget, so cannot expect the vendor (xiaomi) making it very reliable or stable. So I am not complaining about the instabilities and lack of features in this topic, you are a 3rd party developer for a platform (WP 8.x) that is not even officially supported by xiaomi. However in order to pay for the app, you should do some documentation if the vendor didnt do their job (justification: you must have more insider knowledge about the device than most of us, so if you can document your findings, your users may have more confidence to invest money on this abandoned platform (=WP8.x is officially dead since 1,5 year).

    1) Can you please describe the list of features that need a live BT connection state to the phone? For example sleep tracking needs BT connection to the phone or can work autonomously without connection to the phone? If yes, how many measurements can be stored in the band, before needing a connection to the phone for data syncronization?

    2) Does the BindMiBand app needs to run on the phone in order to support the "advanced" features? Do I need to make the app running in the background on WP8.x always (=24/7)? If the app disappears from the running app list (because it crashes / the WP8 OS kills it) does the band disconnect from BT as well? I notice the BT connection is not stable, after 15-30 minutes it always disconnects, and I need to manually go to WP8 BT settings, and manually force the re-connect. As my WP phone does not do it automatically. Does this happen because the app crashed, or something unrelated generic BT issue?

    3) What is the BT distance on this device? 33feet (10 meter) as with other class2 BT device, or due to BT 4.0 Low Energy mode, it is less?

    4) How frequently measures the Pulse the heart rate (if not triggering the manual check)? Does it even measure hearth rate periodically, or unless I press the manual check, it never does the check itself? How frequently does it measure hearth rate during sleeping time, if I enable "Measure hearth rate during sleep"?

    5) Are you planning to add a 14-day trial for the PRO features, so people can evaluate if the paid extra features are worth the money without payment first?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi

      1. No features require live connection. All sync is done when you launch the app and are going only when app is running.

      2. Probably, some "advanced" features would work if app is in background, but it's a poor experience to make user launch app in background, so we don't rely on such way. BT connection is closed when no app uses it. Usually, you don't need to keep it live.

      3. I haven't measured it. But best is to keep band close to phone without any obstacles between.

      4. It measures pulse every 2 minutes and only when band detects that you are sleeping (which is not super reliable)

      5. I'm considering an idea of 3-day trial, but not sure yet if it's worth to spend time on. Price of the app is less than cup of coffee in Starbucks or around bus ticket, so it shouldn't be very hard for user to make a decision.

    2. Thanks for the reply.

My original question still remains open/unanswered: as a developer, who has spent way more time with the inner workings of the Mi Band product, are you planning to write a blog post about things, that should have been written by the vendor? I mean Xiaomi does not have any english-based user guide, apart from a childish, 5-picture quick installation guide.

For example: the Mi band pulse has 3 white LEDs. What can they used for on WP (apart from seeing the battery level during charging, or identifying the device from the app)?

How do I dismiss an alarm vibrating? Its not written in the 3-page EN manual on Xiaomi.com, had to find out from actual end-user blogs. Is the metal surface on the top of the band is touch-sensitive? Can I use that touch surface for what features?

Is the device in 24/7 constant BT pairing mode enabled? Can anybody in BT signal range hijack my device, and control it without me noticing it (as on WP there is no constant BT connection, so I would not notice somebody else is connected to my device)?

Can the constant heart rate measurement be enabled somehow in your app?

Can the detailed measurements (like the details why my sleep was considered 8 hours, based on heart rate) be shown in more details, like the time - value of ALL heart rate measurement during my sleep? Can these detailed data exported to onedrive (the current data export is very basic, does not contain detailed measurements, only the summary).

These are just a couple of example questions, and suggestions from my side.

I know you are just a 3rd party app developer, and I know I have asked too many questions to you, but seeing Xiaomi has 0 interest in supporting their product on WP platform, I have no better place to go with my questions/problems.

Ps: I bough your app by the way, for less than a price of a single cup of Starbucks coffee :)

      Delete
    3. My goal is to make a good app, but I'm ready to answer all curious questions :) it's possible to make a cool doc with all details, but I don't have much time for it now and I still don't know everything about Mi Band...

LEDs can blink when app sends a signal. This is how band locating works. Also you can check progress with your steps with special gesture.

Metal surface is not sensitive. To dismiss alarm, just tap your band or shake it. It reacts on vibration, not touch.

I think that your device can be hijacked. It's true that WP doesn't have constant connection by BT, but it's done to save power. Band doesn't have proper authentication. Personally, I don't think, it's a big deal.

Right now it's not possible to do HR measurements all the time, but it will be in another way later. There will be some news about it on blog.

Detailed sleep analysis is coming in next update. This data won't be exported to OneDrive. There will be another sync way introduced in next updates.

Probably, I will update this page soon with the most recent FAQs.

    1. Just found some information about Google Fit REST API. Should be possible to implement support under Windows Mobile without to much trouble:

The Google Fit REST API enables you to store and access user data in the fitness store from apps on any platform.

    3. Yes, Google Fit has very friendly API, but is there any good app for Windows allowing you to see data on Windows Mobile?

    4. Hi Ian,
I am not aware of a good Windows Mobile app for Google Fit (there is an app but I have not used it yet), but Google Fit has a good website fit.google.com which you can use on any mobile device. Furthermore with that website you can watch your statistics and edit your health log on desktop too, which is very comfortable.
What I like most with Google Fit is the fact that it integrates well with data from all kind of devices and you can have a central storage for your health data. In addition there are health insurance apps which can use your Google Fit data to give you a discount for their plans, so it can realy save you some money.
I read the comment section of your website and their are already some posts of people which are interested in Google Fit integration - so maybe their are enough of us to make it an interesting new feature...
